No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
That Eleanor Roosevelt was a smart lady. And she was right.
But some days…
I’m a trained professional, an educated woman, and I take pride in doing solid, quality work. But today was one of those days where the overwhelming message heading my direction was “you’re just marketing, your time doesn’t matter as much as mine.”
In my head, I know it’s not so. Somehow, I still expect that my coworkers respect my work the way I respect theirs. Yeah, I hear my boss in my head right now, “disappointed by how people are treating you? Change your expectation.” Some days, it works. Other days, I forget, and their bad attitudes and disrespect get to me.
I think that’s why I prefer the work I’m doing on my health goals. Put in the work, and the results are there. The people around me in that arena are encouraging and positive, and even those people who are far healthier or fitter than me don’t ever discount my progress.
So, till I figure out how to filter the negative at work, I’ll focus my energy on my fitness goals. Tonight, that’s the best I can offer.
Till my next post,
